Are you Mad about Vintage Tractors? Robbie Thorpe certainly is. He can't resist the temptation to check out any old tractor he comes across and, if possible, buy it and add it to his collection. The sheds and yards round his home in South Lincolnshire are stuffed full with more than 40 different tractors from over a dozen manufacturers, from post-war Little Grey Fergies and 'sit up and beg' E27N Fordson Majors to row-crop John Deeres and David Browns and a couple of British-built International crawlers.
We see them all in this DVD, working at the jobs they were designed for up to more than half a century ago. They plough, cultivate, drill, mow and plant and lift potatoes. Using miniature cameras we show you unusual, close up shots of working parts not normally accessible or easily seen, like under the belly of a Fordson whilst ploughing, on the lifting gear of a potato hoover, inside the cutter whilst cutting the grass, or on the track of a crawler tractor.
This is a DVD for all tractor lovers. Every owner of old farming equipment will understand exactly how Robbie became Mad about Vintage Tractors. Narrated by Alan Stennett. Running time 104 mins. Available now from www.primetimevideo.co.uk
